Former Student Sportswriter Releases His First
Book in a Never-Done-Before Sportswriting Style

August 21, 2014–Arlington, Texas– University of Texas Football fans now have a new chance to relive the glory days of the 2005-2006 football season. At the end of that undefeated year, the Longhorns were crowned National Champions.

With a new coach at the UT helm, and excitement in the air, the release of Ode of Champions: A Tribute to the 2005-2006 Texas Longhorns’ National Championship Season is timely.

Author Nicholas Williams was a student and sportswriter at UT during that legendary season. In the student paper, he recapped the UT vs. Ohio State game entirely in Dr. Seuss-style, rhyming verses. He got such rave response from faculty and fans, that following that # 1 season he set to work to recap the entire season in a rhythm and rhyme style.

“When we read the manuscript, we were drawn to its uniqueness. We’ve not seen anyone recap an entire sports season in rhyme, and we think this is a treasure that fans of Texas and fans of college football will love. Nick pulls out the nuances of the school and rivalries and cleverly places them into his verses. Our hope is that all National Championship schools will want to bring Nick in to capture their mountaintop moments,” Touch Publishing President, David Soesbee, said. “It was our great pleasure to publish this beautiful book.”
